These paintings are an evolution of all my work over the past decade or so, focusing on the conflict between natural and manmade environments. Each piece was created with the focus of death and rebirth of our land. I was first interested in this idea when looking at old, weathered walls, realizing the beauty in the stains and degeneration. This imagery made me think of the lasting and not so lasting effect we have on the earth’s aethstetic, and how nature is always ready to reclaim its ground. Combining the elements of urban and natural environments lets me create landscape paintings that border on abstract and realism.
